Speed up your metabolism!

Today, we turn our attention to increasing the metabolism – teaching the body to increase the consumption of calories while we rest ! This will be the first of three posts each with two separate, easy and sustainable tips that will help you start increasing your metabolism.

1) Use a twelve hour eating window.

If you finish eating at 6pm then do not eat until the following morning at 6am. Similarly if you eat breakfast at 8am then ensure you finish your last meal at 8pm the previous evening. There are many different variations and you will no doubt be familiar with intermittent fasting – using up to a 16 hour fast with an 8 hour eating window. But with the High Intensity Training we prescribe, your body will need to recuperate, so be mindful that your body needs fuelling – do not get carried away with the fast, 12/12 should be adequate.

2) Eat between 7 and 9 portions of fruit and veg per day.

We need to keep the balance of the gut microbiome and ensure enough fibre is consumed to help motility of our food throughout the gut. Green veggies are a great source of micro-nutrients, so using spinach, cauliflower, broccoli etc. is an easy way to increase your veg, They also have anti-cancer properties, aid in detoxification and have the ability to balance blood sugar so do not scrimp on the greens ! As far as fruit is concerned, stick to the low glycemic berries – blueberries, blackberries, even cherries in a moderate amount.

Add the above to your 'Ancestral' lifestyle over the next 30 days and let us know if you feel any different – maybe an increase in energy or a reduction in body-fat !
